Family remembers Daryl Hill as a helper and hero

APOPKA, Fla. — The Apopka community gathered Friday evening near Jason Dwelley Park to remember Daryl Hill, who the Orange County Sheriff’s Office said was shot and killed last week after stopping to help at a crash scene.

Deputies said Hill had just dropped off one of his children for the first day of school when he saw a man and woman physically fighting inside a car after it crashed at Plymouth Sorrento and West Ponkan roads. The sheriff’s office said Hill stopped to help and was shot and killed by the man involved.
