Serena Williams to Team Up with Carlos Alcaraz for 2026 U.S. Open Mixed Doubles

Flushing, N.Y. – In an exciting announcement for tennis fans, Serena Williams will join forces with rising star Carlos Alcaraz to compete in the mixed doubles event at the 2026 U.S. Open. The tournament organizers revealed the pairing on Sunday, highlighting the star-studded lineup set to take the court.

The mixed doubles draw is scheduled for Sunday at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, with qualifying rounds beginning Monday and main draw matches continuing through Tuesday and Wednesday. Alcaraz expressed his enthusiasm on social media Saturday, posting “Let’s goooo” ahead of the competition.

Joining Williams and Alcaraz, the mixed doubles field includes other prominent teams such as Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka paired with Serbian Novak Djokovic, as well as the formidable duo of Norway’s Casper Ruud and Poland’s Iga Swiatek. Defending champions Sara Errani and Andrea Vavassori of Italy, who triumphed over Swiatek and Ruud in last year’s final, will also return to defend their title.

Serena Williams recently returned to professional tennis after a four-year break but suffered a knee injury during her first-round match at Wimbledon 2026. She has since decided not to compete in the singles portion of this year’s final Grand Slam event but will participate in mixed doubles alongside Alcaraz.

Carlos Alcaraz, ranked No. 2 in the world, will also be making his comeback after a four-month hiatus due to a wrist injury. The singles draws for the U.S. Open will be announced Thursday, with main draw singles action running from August 30 through September 13.

The pairing of Williams and Alcaraz promises to add excitement and star power to the 2026 U.S. Open mixed doubles competition.
