Millcreek Township’s fire service continues to evolve as volunteer departments work alongside the newer paid Millcreek Fire Department. Volunteers say they are adjusting to new procedures and leadership while continuing to support major emergencies.
For nearly 90 years, volunteer fire departments have responded to calls across Millcreek Township. However, as the township has grown, emergency calls have increased, and volunteers say it has become more difficult to maintain staffing levels.
Township supervisors created the Millcreek Fire Department to provide 24-hour coverage, with paid crews able to respond immediately to emergencies.
