Historic flooding inundated Noblesville Aug. 13-16, and efforts are underway to get city operations fully functioning as residents navigate the devastating impact.
The White River crested at 24.6 feet Aug. 15, breaking the 1913 crest record of 23.8. Several areas of Nobesville were impacted, with about 170 residents and their pets voluntarily evacuated from their homes.
Several residents who live near the White River were impacted. Tad Davis, who rents a house approximately 250 feet from the river, was in Brown County Aug. 15 when he got a call that water was filling his backyard and getting closer to his home.
“It took me about an hour and a half to drive up there, and within that time, the water was already 2 inches deep inside my house,” Davis said. “I stayed in the house for about 45 minutes, and within that time, it went from being below my knees to almost halfway up my knees. Our main road also went from me being able to walk on it to water being above my belly button. It went fast.”…
