A new agreement between Palm Beach and Lantana solves an unusual problem: Who oversees docks that were built in one town, but may actually extend into another?
A recent Lantana survey found it’s an apt question for more than a dozen docks at the northern end of Hypoluxo Island, where Lantana’s jurisdiction apparently ends at the shoreline. The docks, according to Lantana officials, extend into water governed by Palm Beach. Because Lantana for decades thought it had jurisdiction there, the town issued permits for the structures.
