70-year-old Ocala woman threatens man with wrench during well-being check, deputies say

A well-being check at a Marion County residence ended with the arrest of a 70-year-old Ocala woman after she allegedly threatened to strike a man with a large metal wrench.

On Wednesday, August 19, a woman, identified as 70-year-old Maureen McCarthy Ford, spoke with Marion County Sheriff’s Office deputies at the agency’s southwest district lobby. She allegedly expressed frustration over a “previous incident” and “ongoing issues” involving the male victim, according to the arrest report.

An MCSO deputy noted that as Ford left the district office, she allegedly shouted that she was “going to go and beat the [expletive] out of [the victim].” This prompted deputies to locate the victim’s address and respond to his home to conduct a well-being check…
