PROVIDENCE — Former and current employees of a metal-finishing and chromium-coating facility on Houghton Street have raised concerns about two possible chemical leaks they say haven’t been fixed. They claim the leaking chemicals, including chromic acid, may be impacting a marsh behind the building, the local neighborhood, and the employees working in the facility.
Electrolizing Inc., 10-20 Houghton St., is owned by Illinois-based Armoloy and has multiple tanks filled with chromic acid, which is both toxic and corrosive and a fire hazard. The facility also runs several chrome-plating tanks with hexavalent chromium, a known human carcinogen…
