Rescue crews pulled the body of a man in his 20s from Lake Travis on Sunday morning, ending an overnight search that began when emergency personnel from multiple agencies responded to a 911 call reporting a swimmer in distress near Lago Vista. The recovery took nearly 18 hours from the time the man was first reported missing, and authorities are withholding his identity while they notify next of kin.
According to FOX 7 Austin, emergency crews first responded at 5:47 p.m. Saturday after the man was reported missing while swimming in the lake. Initial rescue efforts were unsuccessful, and Lake Patrol deputies continued searching into Saturday evening before officials paused the operation overnight. The search resumed at 6 a.m. Sunday, and rescue crews recovered the man’s body around 11:30 a.m. that day, locating him at a depth of just 17 feet across from Pace Bend Park.
