BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — State and federal environmental agencies have screened hundreds of properties for radiological waste in Erie and Niagara counties after an aerial radiological survey in 2024 spotted areas of concern.
U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Regional Administrator Mike Martucci and New York Department of Environmental Conservation Commissioner Amanda Lefton said about 30 of them were referred to the EPA for additional work to determine the extent of the problem and identify specifically what is causing the elevated levels.
