FULLERTON, CA – Detectives with the Fullerton Police Department’s Sensitive Crimes Unit arrested a 28-year-old Fullerton resident following reports of a suspicious interaction involving a 17-year-old female juvenile.
On August 18, 2026, at approximately 1:10 p.m., the juvenile was walking on the 1800 block of Benchley Street in Fullerton when a silver Toyota Camry pulled alongside her and parked. The driver, identified by authorities as Salim Tarrab, remained inside the vehicle and engaged the juvenile in conversation. According to police reports, Tarrab asked the juvenile if she smoked marijuana and inquired if she wanted to make money while reaching his hands below his waist. Believing the suspect was asking her to engage in sexual activity, the juvenile walked away, returned to school, and reported the incident to school staff, who then notified Fullerton Police Department School Resource Officers.
During the subsequent investigation, detectives identified Tarrab, who had previously been arrested by the Fullerton Police Department for lewd and lascivious acts with a minor and child annoyance.
