Restaurant owner launches GoFundMe after fire leaves Southside business ‘beyond repair’

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Streeter Acclaimed Kitchen on Jacksonville’s Southside is working to recover after a fire broke out Saturday night, with the restaurant’s owner saying an apparent electrical issue sparked the flames.

The Southern soul food spot opened in February 2025 and quickly built a loyal following. Now, the restaurant’s team is asking for help as they work to get back on their feet — and community support is already pouring in.

Storefront manager Riva Kimbrough said the restaurant had closed around 7 p.m., but the situation changed a couple of hours later. “Getting that call from the fire department around 9:30 p.m., saying that our building is in flames, which was very unfortunate,” Kimbrough said…
