BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Kern County Public Health officials presented enforcement numbers on unpermitted food vendors from the past year at the regular Board of Supervisors meeting Tuesday.
The Kern County Public Health Department has a full-time team created to provide education and “progressive enforcement” to local food vendors who are found selling without proper permits, according to the meeting agenda.

During fiscal year 2025-2026, the team has received 545 complaints of vendors selling food without proper permits.
The team conducted 1,438 investigations into these complaints. This led to 541 cease and desists, 393 citations and 15 instances of equipment impounds, according to Director of Public Health Brynn Carrigan…
