LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – Dolly Parton has died. Her family released a statement today announcing her passing.
Dolly Rebecca Parton was born in 1946 in Pittman Center, Tennessee, in a one-room cabin. She was the fourth of 12 children born to Avie Lee Caroline and Robert Lee Parton.
Parton learned her craft, in part, by listening to the ballads and folk stories of her mother. Her love of music would give her a path out of poverty, and her love of stories would influence her humanitarian work, like the Imagination Library, which has distributed over 304 million books to children from birth to age 5…
