ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Another celestial phenomenon is on its way to the United States later this week: a partial lunar eclipse will be visible on the night of August 27.
A lunar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between the Earth and the Sun. The Moon ends up in the Earth’s shadow, giving it a deep red hue.
Partial means the three celestial bodies will not be in a straight line. However, even though this eclipse is partial, the Moon will reach 96.2% peak coverage, leaving only a small sliver of the Moon unaffected…
