LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) — A New York man has been sentenced after pleading guilty to stealing more than $500,000 worth of gold bars from a Lancaster County woman.
The Lancaster County District Attorney’s Office says Zhong Ren of Brooklyn, N.Y., was sentenced to 6-23 months in jail after pleading guilty on July 31 to charges of theft by unlawful taking, conspiracy to commit theft by unlawful taking, theft by deception, conspiracy to commit theft by deception and impersonating a public servant.

As a result of the conviction, Ren faces deportation.
According to the Lancaster County DA’s Office, Ren had conspired with others to steal $555,892 worth of gold bars from the victim’s residence in the 200 block of Linda Terrace in April 2025…
