Springfield groups react to Dolly Parton’s passing

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — The recent passing of Dolly Parton took some local groups in Springfield by surprise.

“It was shock,” said Tony Matteo with Real Country 101.3. “We thought we had a lot of years left with Dolly, with her music, and with all that she brings to the world. So, I don’t think anybody was prepared for it yet.”

Matteo said the station wanted to make sure that people heard that she passed away. They not only helped spread the news but also played Parton’s music for hours exclusively. They intend to play a “good mix” of her songs for the next few days…
