Springfield man gets 15 months for illegal possession of firearms

A Springfield, Missouri, man has been sentenced to federal prison for illegally possessing firearms.

William Thomas Alexander Moore, 30, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Megan Blair Benton to 15 months in federal prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm. Moore was charged as part of Operation Spring Cleaning, an initiative coordinated by the U.S. Attorney’s Office and law enforcement agencies across southwest Missouri.

Christian County Sheriff’s Office deputies stopped Moore on June 26, 2025, after he exceeded the posted speed limit. Deputies searched his vehicle after a K-9 alerted to the vehicle and found two Smith & Wesson .38-caliber firearms…
