Man shot in Congress Heights; DC police searching for person driving green-and-black vehicle

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — D.C. police are investigating after a shooting broke out in Congress Heights late Tuesday night, leaving a man injured.

According to the Metropolitan Police Department, officers responded to the shooting just before 9:30 p.m. in the 200 block of Savannah Street SE. This is where the Savannah Heights Apartments are located.

Shooting under investigation in Southeast DC near Maryland line

Upon arriving in the area, officers found a man with gunshot wounds. Officials noted that he was conscious and breathing, and EMS crews transported him to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Video captured at the scene by DC News Now contributor Larry Calhoun showed MPD cruisers with their emergency lights activated parked outside an apartment complex in the area.

The shooting comes just hours before officers found a man shot in the 1200 block of Meigs Place NE, in the Trinidad neighborhood, around 2:45 a.m. Wednesday. EMS crews transported him to the hospital, where he was also receiving treatment for non-life-threatening injuries…
