SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) – Eight months after speed humps were installed on several streets near U.S. 65 in Springfield, residents say the traffic-calming measures have changed some driver behavior but have not eliminated speeding in the area.
The city installed the speed humps on East Bennett Street, Linwood Street, and John and Gelvin Avenues in December as part of a pilot program after concerns were raised about drivers going too fast.
Residents notice changes
Mel Heisler, who lives near the speed humps, said before the humps were installed, drivers showed “no regard for people walking their dogs or families walking through here all the time.”
