A raccoon has tested positive for rabies in Hollywood Park, prompting authorities to warn residents to avoid approaching or provoking wildlife as rabies cases continue to surge across the San Antonio area.
The raccoon was found near the 300 block of Yosemite Drive in Hollywood Park, near U.S. 281 and Thousand Oaks Drive.
Hollywood Park police said they believe the raccoon contracted the disease from a rabid skunk. The case comes amid a sharp increase in rabies among wildlife in the San Antonio and Austin areas.
