SOCORRO COUNTY, N.M. (KRQE) – Sevilleta National Wildlife Refuge officials are looking to remove feral horses from the property due to environmental concerns.

Officials say that because of drought, overgrazing, and overpopulation, they’re looking to remove the feral horses humanely. They plan on doing this by corralling the horses using hay, and then safely taking them to various horse rescues across the state.
Sevilleta officials said if they were to let the horses continue to graze there, the water quality and vegetation would diminish…
