The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for the region served by the Mount Holly, N.J. office for Thursday in effect from noon today until 4 a.m. Friday, as a warm front moves in followed by a cold front on its heels.
“Showers and thunderstorms are likely today into tonight,” the National Weather Service forecasters discussion stated. “Rainfall rates of 1 to 3 inches per hour may lead to isolated to scattered flash flooding, particularly in urban and poor drainage areas. There is a SLIGHT risk (Level 2 out of 4) for flash flooding for the I-95 corridor and points north and west, with the remainder of the area in a MARGINAL risk (Level 1 out of 4).”
The discussion stated “that heaviest precipitation will be generally along the I-95 corridor and points northwest.”
The NWS also says there is a slight risk for the formation of an isolated tornado.
