A major recreational project years in the making has reached another milestone, with the City of Colton officially naming the sports portion of its planned Habitat Conservation Park in honor of two people whose contributions span different generations of the community’s history.
On August 18, the Colton City Council approved the name Eloise Gómez Reyes Sports Complex – Juan Caldera Fields, connecting the future recreational facility with both a contemporary public servant who helped secure substantial funding for the project and a historic South Colton figure whose legacy includes athletics, business and civic involvement.
The naming adds a deeply local identity to a project that represents a significant expansion of Colton’s recreational system.
