A student-led petition challenging Humble ISD’s dress code has topped 800 signatures after an allegation spread that “hundreds” of girls at a Kingwood middle school were cited for dress code violations in one day.
The petition, published by Creekwood Middle School student Valeria Requena, alleges that roughly 150 girls were sent to the school office for dress-code violations on Aug. 20, including about 50 students before the first bell.
But Humble ISD officials disputed that figure Wednesday, saying campus records show 24 students were identified as having a dress-code violation that day.
