A San Antonio family says they walked outside and found a spot in the driveway where their car should’ve been — and for a few moments, they believed it had been stolen. Jennifer Holmquist told KENS 5 her son was “frantic” and the family was close to reporting the vehicle missing before they learned it had been towed at the direction of their homeowners association.
The account, detailed in the original post, centers on the Mountain Lodge neighborhood and a dispute over parking rules — including a written moratorium the family says should have prevented the tow in the first place.
A driveway tow and a $300 shock
Holmquist said the Toyota Camry was taken from their own driveway on Tuesday night, and that the family didn’t receive any advance notice that it would happen. “Nothing on the door, no phone call, no email,” she told the station.
When she contacted the towing company, she said she was told it would cost $300 to get the car back. That’s a hard hit for most families, and Holmquist said it was especially frustrating because, in her view, the HOA had already agreed in writing not to penalize them for parking issues while they worked toward compliance.
