ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) — A handful of local organizations and city leaders gathered Wednesday to address the presence of ICE in Albuquerque.
Each expressed concerns about racial profiling, constitutional principles, and public safety complications. “What happened in Santa Fe last week is a reminder of the fear that federal immigration tactics and enforcement can create here in our own communities. And when people are afraid to call the police, report a crime, seek medical access, go to the library, take their kids to a community center, everyone is less safe,” said City of Albuquerque Director of Public Affairs and Interfaith Liaison Doug Small.
