PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — The University of New Hampshire on Thursday released a poll suggesting Democrat Helena Foulkes has opened up a substantial lead over incumbent Gov. Dan McKee, drawing instant pushback from his campaign, while showing tight races for attorney general and lieutenant governor.
The survey of 451 likely primary voters found Foulkes at 56% and McKee at 18%, with 23% still undecided. McKee has fared poorly in all the polls conducted by UNH since last September, but the 38-point gap in the new survey is significantly worse than his 20-point deficit in June, which the McKee campaign had cited as a sign of progress.
UNH’s poll is the third since last week that shows Foulkes leading McKee by double-digits, but the margins in the first two were not as large.
