Scattered rain likely for some this afternoon

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Today will be, for the majority of us, our last hope for meaningful rain before we close the books on August.

Afternoon

A few scattered strong to severe thunderstorms are possible later this afternoon into the early evening hours. Rainfall totals will be under a quarter inch for most of us, but localized totals 0.5″-1″ are possible. A Heat Advisory has been extended until 7 p.m. this evening as higher humidity will bring feels-like temps up to 105-110º.

We look much drier on Friday, but a spotty shower is possible in our eastern counties.

The weekend looks completely dry and mostly sunny with high temperatures near 100 degrees…
