Family says 2-year-old’s drowning at playdate was accidental. Authorities want criminal charges.

To the dismay of the child’s mother, the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office is pursuing criminal charges in the death of a 2-year-old boy who was declared brain dead after nearly drowning in a community pool on the far North Side.

Grace LeBlanc said her son Malachi was on a playdate supervised by a trusted adult on Aug. 5 when he nearly drowned in a community pool in Indian Springs, a gated subdivision in the 25800 block of Turquoise Sky, near Bulverde Road.
