SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Happy Thursday, Utah! Isolated showers and storms will develop through Friday as a late-August cold front arrives this weekend, leading to thunderstorms and cooler conditions.

Thursday’s forecast
We’re looking at partly cloudy skies and hot temperatures for our Thursday afternoon. Isolated mainly higher-terrain thunderstorms will develop for the mountains east of I-15 and south of I-70 early Thursday afternoon.
A few more storms may develop near the Nevada border and stream northeast towards the I-15 corridor and Wasatch Front for the early evening hours. One or two of these storms could become a bit feisty, with outflow winds up to 60 mph possible in some showers.
The Storm Prediction Center has placed most of northwest Utah under a level 1 “Marginal” risk for severe weather this afternoon.

High temperatures along the Wasatch Front will warm into the mid to upper 90s. Daytime highs in SW Utah will once again warm above 105°.
