Men highlighted in KyCIR report released from prison, await decision from prosecutors

Earlier this summer, a Louisville judge tossed out the convictions against two men who say they were wrongfully imprisoned for the 2015 murder of a man on Elliott Avenue named Eddie Vinson.

Juan Lloyd and Brandon Oldham have, for years, claimed police and prosecutors broke policies, withheld evidence and misrepresented the truth in their effort to close the case that made headlines more than a decade ago for its shocking brutality. Vinson’s body was found burned and beaten.

The Kentucky Center for Investigative Reporting highlighted the case in a 2024 report documenting newly discovered evidence that Lloyd, Oldham and their attorneys say could have changed the outcome of the trial that put them in prison…
