Inside Staten Island’s first homicide case of 2026: Recorded phone calls, cryptic Facebook posts

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y.— New details revealed in the July 2 stabbing death of Kycell Terry include recorded phone calls, an alleged dumping of the murder weapon and cryptic Facebook posts by the man charged in the case.

Jonathan Griffin, 40, of Bayonne Street in Port Richmond, is accused of killing Terry, 25, inside a Port Richmond apartment.

The crime scene was the home of Griffin’s former girlfriend. Griffin, Terry and the former girlfriend had been hanging out and drinking together earlier that night, sources said…
