DALLAS COUNTY, Iowa — In the latest on the Kristin Ramsey case, the State of Iowa has denied Ramsey’s request to loosen her bond restrictions.
In April 2011, Ashley Okland was found shot dead inside a West Des Moines townhome she had been hosting an open house for. The case went cold until March 2026, when Kristin Ramsey was indicted on a first-degree murder charge by a Dallas County grand jury.
Prosecutors claim a witness saw Ramsey leave the townhome where Okland was working on the day of the murder and drive away, shortly before Okland’s body was discovered. Ramsey was employed by Rottlund Homes, which owned the townhomes Okland was showing, at the time of the murder. The two women worked together through the business relationship.
