HAYSVILLE, Kan. (KWCH) – A traffic stop in Haysville Thursday morning led to the arrest of 19-year-old Josias Perkins. His family is now looking for answers as to why it happened.
Traffic stop escalates
Police say Perkins was going 36 mph in a 20 mph school zone and originally did not stop the vehicle when asked. The family is looking for answers and believes the force used was excessive.
Video appears to show police tase Perkins three times, including after police took him to the ground.
Perkins was charged with speeding in a school zone, interference with police, flee and elude, and possession of marijuana.
Sister describes arrest
The arrest happened outside the Dollar General. Perkins’ sister, Leacia Trujillo, said as soon as they stopped and police approached, one of the officers started drawing a weapon. She said it was unusual enough that she decided to start recording…
