The Night Heron, the rooftop dining and bar concept that downtown Tex-Mex institution Casa Rio teased nearly a year ago, is finally moving ahead.
State records show the operators of Casa Rio, the River Walk’s oldest restaurant, will start work on the 4,000-square-foot addition on Sept. 21 with expected completion date in October 2027. The project is expected to cost $3.5 million, according to documents filed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.
“I was inspired by what people are doing to shape our city in a new direction, and I started thinking about what we are doing to contribute to that motivation to get more people and locals to come downtown,” Casa Rio Vice President Elizabeth Lyons Houston told the Express-News last fall. “I felt like it was time for us to do our part.”…
