A four-year-old girl found wandering alone in Canton Township has been safely reunited with her parents, the Stark County Sheriff’s Office confirmed. Deputies had put out an urgent public plea earlier Friday after the non-verbal child was spotted walking by herself in the 4700 block of Cleveland Ave South.
According to Cleveland 19 News, deputies said the girl appeared to be non-verbal, which complicated efforts to figure out where she came from or who she belonged to. The sheriff’s office initially asked the public for help identifying her parents or guardians, but by Friday afternoon confirmed the child’s parents had been located, bringing a swift end to the search.
A Quick Resolution in a County Built for Rapid Response
Canton Township is an unincorporated, 25.3-square-mile area in central Stark County with a population of 12,477 as of the 2020 Census, and it relies directly on the Stark County Sheriff’s Office for police coverage rather than a municipal department.
