South Coast Rail Line Shows Ridership Boost, Spurs Development in Southern Massachusetts

The South Coast Rail, linking New Bedford/Fall River to Boston’s South Station, has quickly become a major commuting option for southern Massachusetts residents since its launch in March 2025.

The service has not only broadened access to Boston culture and institutions for northern visitors but also facilitated exploration of the South Coast’s history, tourism, and food scene.
