The Lofts Apartments shooting victim has been identified as a member of the Air Force Security Forces according to Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan. An investigation is still ongoing to determine the official manner of death for 36-year-old Yun Lee who died on the scene at the Columbus apartment complex August 24, 2026.
Bryan said Lee was discovered slumped over suffering from a single gunshot wound to the head by his deputy coroner. She was at the apartment of her boyfriend who serves in the Army. Lee’s boyfriend described a struggle over the gun to investigators alleging he was attempting to put the gun on safety when Lee fired the gun.
