Gavin Newsom kicking off tour of the South on Alabama’s civil rights trail

California governor and possible 2028 Democratic presidential candidate Gavin Newsom is launching a four-day tour through Alabama, South Carolina and North Carolina beginning Wednesday.

The tour starts Sept. 2 in Montgomery, where Newsom will attend an event with newly elected Alabama Democratic Party Chair State Sen. Bobby Singleton, according to a release from his team.

The day’s agenda centers on civil rights and voting rights, including walking key sites on the civil rights trail with Montgomery Mayor Steven Reed, holding a town hall with community leaders, and meeting with students at Alabama State University…
