WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — An e-bike traffic stop quickly escalated into a foot chase after deputies say a West Palm Beach man took off and tossed a handgun while running.
According to an arrest report from the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, Ezekiel Daughtry III was seen riding an e-bike on the sidewalk along Haverhill Road without a functioning white front light. Deputies said he was also riding on the sidewalk instead of using the bicycle lane.
The deputy activated his emergency lights and siren to initiate a traffic stop. Daughtry allegedly looked back, pointed at himself and continued riding. The arrest report says when the deputy yelled for Daughtry to stop, he asked what he had done, accelerated and rode around the deputy’s vehicle…
