Joliet Mayor Terry D’Arcy Optimistic During State Of The City Address

On Thursday, August 27, Joliet Mayor Terry D’Arcy delivered his State of the Union address at the Renaissance Center in Joliet. The mayor spoke before City Council members and other dignitaries, looking back on the city’s achievements, as well as looking forward, to the future regarding development and planning.

A highlight that Mayor D’Arcy touted was the dedicated work of the Joliet Police Department. He said JPD “has modernized their operations and increased their community engagement, leading to a safer community.” He cited meaningful, measurable progress in public safety in the city. In fact, shootings are down 21% compared to the previous year. He noted that overall, crime is trending down over the past four years, during his tenure as mayor.

D’Arcy also complimented the work of the Joliet Fire Department, which he said responded to more than 24,000 incidents, including nearly 20,000 EMS calls over the past year…
