An 84-year-old man was taken into custody on Friday night following an hours-long standoff in Southfield.
CBS News Detroit was at the scene near Winchester Street and Lahser Road when the man was taken in roughly seven hours later, sometime after 10 p.m. Police say the man was taken to a hospital.
Police Chief Elvin Barren said earlier in the day that the man, who was believed to be suffering from a mental health crisis, fired several shots inside the home and refused to come out.
