Richmond is mourning the legendary Parton, who passed awaypeacefully on Tuesday, Aug. 25 in Nashville, Tennessee.
Two local venues are hosting film screenings on Saturday, Aug. 28, each of them showing one of Parton’s iconic movies.
“9 to 5” at Babes of Carytown
Richmond lesbian bar Babes of Carytown will be screening “9 to 5,” a beloved film that shares the name of one of Parton’s most recognizable songs.

“Steel Magnolias” at Studio Two Three
Richmond nonprofit and art space Studio Two Three will be screening “Steel Magnolias,” a film that’s as star-studded as Parton’s favored jumpsuits.
- When: 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 28 (doors open at 7 p.m.)
