The summer is easier. The team at the Eugene Marathon — race director Ian Dobson and his team of three employees — can take a breather and think about what they want the next year’s race to look like.
They work seven-hour days instead of the longer days in April and almost around the clock on race weekend.
Their office on Lincoln Street is casual, and in the back rooms, remnants of the most recent marathon — signage, storage crates and the costumes from Flap Jack and Flap Jill, the Eugene 5K’s famous pancake mascots — are carefully stacked…
