A man wearing a Jordan tank top, green pants and a light brown hat was caught on ATM surveillance camera withdrawing cash with a stolen debit card in the 10500 block of Culebra Road, and now Bexar County deputies want the public’s help finding him. The withdrawal happened on August 12, and investigators say the suspect fled in a dark-colored SUV with a license plate that has not been identified.
The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office posted the surveillance images to Facebook, describing the suspect as a Black male and asking anyone with information about his identity or whereabouts to come forward. The ATM in question sits along a stretch of Culebra Road that also goes by FM 471, a Far Westside commercial corridor that the Texas Department of Transportation is in the middle of widening from two lanes into a four-lane divided roadway as part of a multi-million dollar expansion project.
Anyone with information can call the sheriff’s office at (210) 335-6000, according to the Facebook post. Deputies did not release the cardholder’s identity or say how the debit card was stolen in the first place, leaving open whether the card was lifted from a mailbox, a vehicle break-in, or some other means.
A Familiar Pattern of Card Theft Cases
This is not the first time Bexar County investigators have leaned on the public to crack an ATM fraud case built around a stolen debit card. In November 2024, the sheriff’s office investigated a suspect accused of stealing a debit card from a mailbox and using it to withdraw cash at a Security Service Federal Credit Union on NW Loop 410 before spending more of it at a local store, according to a post from the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office on Facebook.
