A new week has started on a mild and seasonable note in New Mexico. Temperatures this morning have fallen into the 50s, 60s and 70s. Today’s forecast will have highs reaching the upper 80s, 90s and low 100s yet again. Near record heat will be possible for Clayton and Tucumcari this afternoon as highs may reach 98 and 101 degrees for those two locations. Forecasted highs are expected to be slightly cooler in Albuquerque, reaching the low 90s, over the next few days. Meanwhile, parts of New Mexico will reach into the 70s by tomorrow afternoon with cloud coverage with showers and storms contributing to the cooler temperatures. Those highs are forecasted for west and northwest New Mexico.
The monsoon high will shift farther to the northeast outside of the Desert Southwest. Moisture will shift into western and northern New Mexico giving those areas a better chance for wetting rainfall and storms throughout the next two days. Today’s forecast will feature isolated to scattered showers and storms which could drop locally heavy rainfall. By Tuesday, moisture in the upper levels of our atmosphere shift farther east bringing better rain chances to the northeast and central New Mexico. By Wednesday moisture starts to thin out with drier air mixing in. As a result, storms will decrease to be spotty to isolated through Thursday for the state…
