POLK COUNTY, Iowa — An Ames woman has been charged with OWI after she reportedly struck a Polk County Sheriff’s deputy overnight Sunday.
The Iowa State Patrol says just after midnight on Sunday, 41-year-old Mary Ann Gaither was reported driving southbound in the northbound lanes of Interstate 35, near the 88-mile marker. Officials say Gaither nearly struck several vehicles during this time.
According to officials, an ISP trooper attempted to stop Gaither just south of Euclid Avenue along Interstate 35, but she failed to yield and nearly struck the ISP car. The report states Gaither continued and hit a Polk County Sheriff’s Office deputy almost head-on near Guthrie Avenue…
