A Massachusetts man’s hands shook so badly he could barely strum his guitar. Standing in front of a crowd at a Noah Kahan look-alike contest, D’Angelo Rivas was about to do something he’d never done before: singing in front of an audience.
But Rivas wasn’t there to launch a music career. The Ipswich resident had a different goal in mind: spreading a message of kindness to anyone who would listen.
“The world needs more kindness in it and Noah’s definitely a person that can see that and feels that,” Rivas said. “I think if we were all just a little bit more kind to each other and loved each other a little bit more, the world would be a much better place.”
Rivas, who placed second, was one of about a dozen Noah Kahan look-alikes gathered outside Blackbird Doughnuts and Sally’s Sandwiches at 492 Tremont St. in Boston’s South End on Aug. 30, competing for a $100 cash prize and free doughnuts in a contest celebrating the Vermont-based singer-songwriter’s signature aesthetic…
