Kroger started construction on two new stores in Dearborn and Commerce Township. The company will spend more than $70 million, and they expect to create nearly 350 jobs in Metro Detroit when the projects finish. Both stores replace older sites, with openings set for 2027.
The Dearborn store sits at the southwest corner of Ford Rd and Mercury Drive. Kroger is investing $35.5 million at this site. The building spans 122,983 square feet and will house a full-service deli/bakery, a seafood department, a smart-service meat department, a sushi counter, and a pharmacy with drive-thru pickup. Officials estimate the Dearborn Kroger will create about 200 jobs. Expect the store to open in June 2027.
Commerce Township’s store occupies the southwest corner of Springvale Drive and Haggerty Rd., where Kroger is putting $34.5 million into the building itself. An additional $3.5 million goes toward a fuel center. The 103,000-square-foot structure will feature Murray’s Cheese shop, a full-service deli/bakery and seafood section, a smart-service meat counter, and a pharmacy with a drive-thru option.
