At 1:30 in the morning, a pair of taillights can be the whole case. Keep them in view and the vehicle is still reachable. Lose them at the wrong turn and a white pickup becomes one more truck somewhere in the dark.
That was the problem facing a Fresno Police motorcycle officer early Wednesday, Aug. 26. At Temperance and Olive avenues, the officer saw a white pickup run a stop sign at what police described as a high rate of speed.
As the officer tried to catch up, Fresno Police said the driver continued south, ran additional stop signs and red lights and swerved. The officer requested the department’s Air Support Unit and assistance from nearby agencies while trying to keep the pickup’s taillights in view…
